Located in Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg (part of Bellevigne-les-Châteaux), in Maine-et-Loire, only 8 kilometers south of Saumur, the Domaine de Nerleux adjoins the famous “route des vins”, the wine trail of Saumur-Champigny. We gladly welcome visitors in the heart of our beautiful vineyard. Sharing is an essential value of our family estate. We enjoy welcoming the general public and professionals and offering tastings of our wines. At the Domaine you will find all the appellations of the Saumur region: Saumur-Champigny, Saumur Blanc, Saumur Rosé, Crémant de Loire and Côteaux de Saumur. From red fruity wines to woody ones, from dry white wines to sweet and luscious ones, without forgetting sparkling wines, rosé and even grape juice, here is something to appeal to all palates in our cellar! For several years, in addition to the discovery of what is happening behind the scenes and the secrets of the making of our wines, we want to highlight and tell you all about the outstanding heritage of our region, and especially our vineyard. Born out of limestone and tuffeau stone, nestled in the heart of 30 hectares of vines, the Domaine de Nerleux houses authentic architectural treasures dating back to the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries: several caves, a wine cellar, some houses, a pavilion and even a chapel… Places full of stories as well as testimonies of the History! For example: no less than 200 kilometers of underground caves and galleries can be found under the village of Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg… The caves under the estate were dug in order to extract blocks of tuffeau stone which were used for the construction of the buildings of the Domaine. Since then, they have always had a function linked to winemaking only, but there are also larger galleries from which blocks of tuffeau stone were extracted and which were later used as champignonnières (underground mushrooms farms). At the Domaine de Nerleux, caves are used for the storage of old vintages as well as for the maturation in barrels of the Loups Noirs and the Louve α vintages. It is our strong desire to share this heritage with you through a large array of activities but also during our special evening events, open days, and also an escape game!
